Maryam's Role
Maryam serves as a coach and test coordinator for the “11 for Health in Pakistan” project. Throughout the project implementation, she continually expanded her knowledge and honed her skills, which further fueled her passion for sports training. Maryam is convinced that the “11 for Health in Pakistan” initiative offers plenty of opportunities, benefiting not just the education sector, but also athletes and sports teams.
“The 11 for Health in Pakistan program has equipped me with the necessary skills to enhance children’s levels of physical activity through football training, utilizing a comprehensive coaching manual and instructional methodology. Participation in this practical-based project will benefit me greatly in my career as an athlete and coach.”
Introduction of Maryam Khan
Maryam has been an Australian football player since 2022 and is currently preparing for the 2024 Australian Football World Cup in Singapore. Her sports journey began in 2021 when she enrolled at Viqar Un Nisa Post Graduate College for Women. As the sports president at her college, Maryam has been coaching the junior teams in Cricket, Hockey, Football, Tug of war, and Athletics since 2021. She represented her college with her teams to compete at district, provincial, and national levels. Besides coaching and training, Maryam has organized various sports events and activities at her college, honing her organizational, communication, and coordination skills. These skills enable her to participate in the management of personnel and tasks during the tests in our project.
Here are some of Maryam’s significant sports achievements:
– 2021: Gold medal in district-level intercollegiate hockey matches
– 2021: Silver medal in hockey as captain of the Rawalpindi Division team
– 2021: Gold medal in National level intercollegiate cricket matches
– 2022: Won trophy and certification for a baseball match representing the Pakistan team at Zahid National Academy
– 2022: Gold medal in intercollegiate hockey matches
– 2022: Gold Shield in hockey and the Best Team in National level intercollegiate hockey match
– 2022: Bronze medal in hockey for Punjab games 2022, district level
– 2022: Gold medal in intercollegiate cricket match at the National level in Multan
– 2023: Gold medal in district-level intercollegiate football
– 2023: Silver medal in National level football match in Multan
– 2024: Gold medal in Relay race, Silver medal in short put in Satellite Town, Punjab
Maryam completed her matriculation in computer science from Govt. Girls High School in 2020, followed by Intermediate ICS Physics in 2022. She is currently pursuing a BSc part 2 in computer science from Viqar Un Nisa Post Graduate College for Women. In her free time, she tutors students from Grades 1 to 10 in major subjects at the Polytechnic Institute Rawalpindi.
