At 7 AM, senior officials from the education sector and other government representatives arrived at the Khursheed Hockey Ground in the F-10/1 sector of Islamabad to attend a football class for the fifth-grade students from Islamabad Model School F-10/1. Our coaching team conducted the first session of the seventh week of the program, which began with the National Anthem, followed by warm-up and football skills training, and concluded with a small-sided football match. The visitors witnessed the students’ passion for physical activities and the positive changes in their energy and fitness brought by the past six weeks of football training, gaining a deep understanding of the benefits of physical education for students.
During the visit, the Federal Secretary engaged in detailed discussions with the project initiator, Mr. Farman Ullah, to learn about the entire process of the 11 for Health in Pakistan project, from its inception to implementation. Dr. Tabassum Naz and Sir Abdul Ghaffar also shared their experiences and views on implementing this school-based sports project.
Before the start of the small-sided football match, Head Coach Chaman Mushtaq invited the Federal Secretary to kick off the game. Immediately after the Secretary kicked the football, the students got into a fierce competition.
After the football training session, the visitors and the project team discussed the possibility of promoting the 11 for Health program across Islamabad. The Federal Secretary emphasized that a healthy body is essential for a healthy mind. Therefore, the education sector places great importance on integrating physical education into public schools, hoping to realize the vision of all children obtaining sufficient physical activities at school.
Moving forward, the project team will maintain close ties with the Ministry of Federal Education and Professional Training and Federal Directorate of Education to extend the benefits of the 11 for Health program to more school-aged children, and promote equity in physical education.
Your project focusing on sports for children in Pakistan is truly inspiring! It’s wonderful to see initiatives that promote physical activity and teamwork among young people, especially in a country where sports can be a powerful tool for social development. Your efforts to provide children with access to sports not only encourage a healthy lifestyle but also help in building confidence and fostering a sense of community. Keep up the great work!
